Remarks Queens Birthday Weekend

Had a nice little social/business trip down to Queenstown over Queens Birthday Weekend. The car was packed with Dynafit gear we had to drop off along the way, as well as our own gear after hearing early season conditions were good in the Southern Lakes.
We meet up with Gary and Rae on Saturday morning for a quick tour up the Remarkables.

We skinned up to Wye Saddle, with great views down to Lake Alta and up at Double Cone. We then did a short ski into the head of Wye Creek and climbed up to North Wye Saddle and onto point 2050m.
Jane skinning onto point 2050m, with the Wye Creek Basin in the background.

I was really impressed with the options for touring up at the Remarks and around every turn there is another peak waiting to be skied, but I guess that NZ for you.........

"The skier who forsakes the lifts to climb under his own power to a mountain summit is a very different person from the downhill only piste basher and is often regarded by the latter as something of a curiosity.
But he was the creator of the sport; and possibly with him lies the future"
-Robin Fedden, The book of Europen Skiing, 1966
